Inspiration Friday

Inspiration Friday!

Here's a list of things that are inspiring me this week:

1.  Tights

I realize that this trend has been around for a while now, but up until recently, I've avoided it like the plague.  I think it's because I already look younger than I am, and I figured that adding tights into the mix would just make me look like a giant six year old.  However, I got so tired of not being able to wear any of my dresses in the winter, that I decided to take the plunge.  I'm go glad I did! Yesterday I wore a pair of bright yellow ones, and it was a great day.

2.  Pine Cones

After the crafting day with my mom last weekend, I fear I may have become slightly obsessed with them.  I've decided that they are my new favorite holiday decoration.  They are so cheap (free), and they have endless possibilities.  Next on my list is a wintry terrarium using pine cones I found on the hill behind my house. Yay!

3.  TOM's

I bought my first pair a few weeks ago, and I can safely say that they are the most comfortable things I've ever put on my feet.  I'd been wanting a pair for over a year, but just couldn't find the right pair. Until I found these.  I feel like we're a match made in heaven.

4.  Milo Greene

Two bands in one week? What the what? It's almost like this is becoming a music blog, or something.  Seriously though, these guys (and girl) opened up for The Civil Wars last week, and they were super amazing.  They also have GREAT style.  Go check them out.

5.  Road Trips

In just a few short days, we're road tripping to Texas to see the husband's siblings and their spouses.  I am so excited! There's nothing that I love more than a good road trip, especially one that involves traveling south to the land of Chick-Fil-A.

Be Still My Beating Heart

I love The Civil Wars. Love. Them.  I got the chance to see them in concert last Tuesday, and for about a week prior to that, my excitement levels were absolutely off the charts.  Sometimes when you hype something up in your head to the extent that I did with this concert, you end up having a little bit of a let down when you see the actual thing.

Let me tell you, this was not the case here.

They were better live than I could have ever imagined, and when they sang Poison and Wine, it was pretty much like having an out of body experience.

If you haven't heard any of their stuff, you need to go take a listen.  Like right now. Seriously. Go do it.

Do you have a favorite group? If so, have you ever gotten a chance to see them in concert, and were they as good as you imagined they would be?

Winter Crafting

First of all, I want to thank you all so much for your words of wisdom yesterday regarding my little "slump."  After reading them I felt so motivated last night that I cooked dinner, spent a couple hours cleaning the house, finished a project, and even did a little baking (the results of which will be shared in an upcoming post).

Now to the crafting...

A few weeks ago while my mom and I were out shopping, we stopped into a store that had used tons of glittery pine cones to decorate for Christmas.  They were everywhere- hanging in the windows, filling vases, tucked into little nooks next to candles, etc.  Because they looked really simple to make, and because we share a somewhat obsessive love of glitter we decided to do some for our own homes.

So, last Saturday we got together, picked up some pine cones at Michael's, busted out the glitter, and got to work.

Here's the end result:

We may have overdone it a little, considering the fact that I ended up with enough pine cones to create a decent sized forest, but oh well. You can never have too much glitter in your house, right?

P.S. On a totally unrelated note, look at these ridiculously cute elves my mom had out at her house.  I love them so much, that I'm secretly hatching a plan to abscond with them the next time I'm there.

Have you done any crafting for Christmas yet? I feel like this is just the beginning of the Christmas crafting for me.  I have so many things saved on Pinterest, that I'm can't wait to make!

Lazy.

Lately, I've been in this strangely unproductive rut. When it comes to cleaning the house, finishing up my diy projects, or even getting out of bed to do my hair in the morning, I'm just not feeling it.  I'm currently blaming this little slump on the fact that it's getting dark so early now, and the weather has been gloomy and gross.
My question is this: do you ever get in these moods?  Moods where you just don't feel creative or motivated?  How do you drag yourself out?  What do you do to inject a little inspiration back into your life?

Inquiring minds want to know:)

Inspiration Friday

Happy Veteran's Day, and thank you to all the brave men and women who have so selflessly served our country, both today, and in the past.

Because really, what's more inspiring than that?

Imaginary Gymnast

Hey there.

It's been a while.

Sometimes, when I'm walking down a long hallway, I get the insatiable urge to break into a run and do some amazing gymnastics flip, like a double handspring with an impressive twisty landing.  I'm fairly certain that any actual attempt to pull this off would end in tragedy, as even on my best day, I can barely accomplish a respectable cartwheel.

But hey, a girl can dream, right?
